NNL provides following services:

Mobile:
NNL has been providing mobile library services to the general public through five different points in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur districts.

Reference:
NNL has been providing reference services to the general public, students, teachers, researchers and foreign users. The collection of the library is freely available to all the users and most of the collection is open access. It is a reference library where users can use documents freely within the library premises. The users can enquire about any information by personal visit or by telephone, fax, email.

Photocopy:
The NNL has been providing photocopy service to the users at a subsidized rate.

Document Delivery:
The document delivery service both within Nepal and outside the country is available.

Audio visual:
Audio visual materials are one of the important parts of its collection.

Children's Library:
The video film shows, CD-ROM demonstration, story telling, Origami, quiz and how to use reference books programmes are being arranged time to time for the younger users.

Training:
Nepal National Library organises short term training courses at paraprofessional level for the library staff of different organisations and fresh candidates.

One of such trainings is of 35 days long. The training course is based on the job specifications and standards at skill level 3 for library and information workers, approved by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training of His Majesty's Government of Nepal. The content is practical and skill oriented.

The library also organises one week long training programme at local level to the staff of public, academic and other libraries. The main objective of this training is to develop such manpower who can run libraries at local level.

In order to further strengthen the skill and knowledge of the staff of NNL, they take part in different international seminars, workshops and trainings abroad.

Workshops and Seminars:
Nepal National Library organises different workshops and seminars on library related topics.

The library in cooperation with Nepal Library Association organised International Seminar on Multipurpose Community Telecentre: Networking and Future Aims, 15-16 January 2004.
